Job Title: Analytics Specialist Sr. Location: Pella, Iowa Duration: Longterm Position: Full-Time SUMMARY The Sr. Analytics Specialist role is an individual contributor role with advanced data analytics and modeling capabilities. These capabilities overlap in places with the Analytics Specialist role with a deeper knowledge in requirements gathering, analytic techniques with more experience. Advanced analytics capabilities, ranging from simple calculation and metrics to advanced techniques using algorithms with prescriptive and predictive outcomes. This could include statistical techniques, segmentation, mapping, and modeling. This position will be a very technically oriented position and serve as a mentor to Analytics Specialist. Software application capabilities including systems such as Hadoop/Big Data clusters, direct database access for the purposes of data discovery and insight. One-off applications for statistical modeling and mapping will be used on an as-needed basis and will be determined by the project. Highly integrated with the Analytics Team and IT and can speak both functional languages to facilitate the advanced, highly specialized analysis necessary in this role. This role will be a key contributor in developing Pella's data architecture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supports the development of various key metrics, results and analysis including driving efforts with the Pella data warehouse team, Analytics Team, and other functions to determine the best methods, standards, and automation for efficiency. Ultimately responsible for extracting and analyzing data, formulating actionable conclusions/recommendations, and communicating/presenting these findings to the broader organization. Perform ad-hoc reporting, advanced analysis, and in-depth analytics using a variety of information sources, tools, and analytical techniques; Defining the issue to analyze, scope the effort, best techniques and data sources needed are all key dimensions of this activity. Partner with IT to improve Pella's data practices and reporting & analytics approaches via defining data and metric standards, driving automation and improved information access, BI tool selection, and other related enabling activities. Examples include data warehouse(s), CRM systems, transactional systems, external vendor-managed systems, and call center data. Project management, presentations to management up to the Executive level, and vendor management as needed per agreed upon priorities and deliverables. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities but will lead project teams within Analytic teams and will lead cross-functional teams. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree, preferably BS or MS, in business, marketing or technical field. MBA also considered beneficial. Seven to fifteen years' experience in data analysis-oriented roles with supplementary marketing experience or exposure idea. Prior experience in economic, market research or financial fields is typically beneficial. Demonstrated experience applying analytics to improve a company's business performance. Direct Marketing and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) analytics background and familiarity working with customer, prospect, and 3rd party data In-depth experience performing descriptive and multi-variate statistical analytics (e.g. non-linear regression, CHAID, etc.) and apply to business needs (e.g. response/targeting forecast models, etc.) In-depth experience creating and managing analytical data sets in potentially sub-optimal data infrastructures and the in-depth experience leveraging statistical software packages (e.g. SAS, JMP, etc.) and other useful tools to do so Ability to leverage mainstreamed business intelligence tools (e.g. Cognos, OBIEE, etc.) and environments (e.g. data warehouse with SQL) as needed Ability to direct and partner with IT to continuously improve data management and analytics infrastructures Ability to clearly and concisely simplify and communicate complex concepts, findings, and implications to all levels of the organization (e.g. junior marketing managers, agency and distribution partners, C-level, etc.) LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to translate complex approaches and issues into actionable implications easily understood by all levels of management. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Must have demonstrated strong mathematical skills. Advanced mathematical/econometric skills a plus (e.g. working knowledge of multivariate techniques including ANOVA, ANCOVA, Linear & Non-Linear Regression, Time Series, Factor Analysis, Clustering, etc.). Advanced statistical capabilities are required above and beyond the typical Pella requirement and approaching those expected of Six Sigma Black Belts, but applied towards many areas throughout Pella Corporation. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions with minimal data points. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Advanced ability to conceptualize data and understand complex relationships is required. The ability to communicate the results of the analysis in a way that presents the proper insights to the rest of the business is extremely important. COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to secure, integrate, and manipulate data from a variety of sources including but not limited to Pella's Data Warehouse, Access Databases, Flat file data feeds, etc. Data mining and analytic reporting tools (e.g. COGNOS, etc.) and statistical software packages (e.g. SPSS, SAS, R) - including writing syntax (SQL, etc) for statistical packages are a plus. Communication tools such as traditional Microsoft products Excel and PowerPoint skills are critical in particular. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS None required. Market Research, SAS, SPSS or related Statistical Certifications a plus.
